I am currently pursing a travel position which will have me moving every 13 weeks. I’ll be looking for temporary housing and likely renting rooms for a while during this time, I want to travel for 1-2 years before finding somewhere new to settle down. I also plan to do a lot of recreation based travel between contracts, like taking hiking trips for multiple nights and possibly multiple weeks. I have two cats. One was a feral cat who I socialized and is still very timid around anyone but me, that’s Nola. The other is very social and friendly and greets everyone who comes into my home, that Gizmo. Well, my brother who lives about 300 miles from me has offered to take them while I’m traveling. These moves will take me across country, like 2,000 miles from where I currently live. My cats do no do well with travel, I have scars from vet trips and across town moves.
I think that’s all the pertinent information.
So here’s the question- what would be easier on the kitties, 1) staying with me brother for a year or so until I settle down at which time I can decide to let them stay if they’ve settle or move them with me or 2) keep them with me and have to move them every few months including an initial 2,000 mile+ car ride?

Another vote for your brother - assuming he will take good care of them.

Voted to leave with your brother. Cats do not cope well with change and your plans sound way to hectic for them. Hopefully your brother will give them a loving forever home as the decision to keep them is and should be a life commitment. All the best for you all.
