    Chartiers Twp, Washington Co, Penna:
A woman walking a dog for a local non-profit rescue had brought both her daughters with her - a 4-YO, & a 7-YO. The dog bit the 4-YO's face, the woman "tried to get the dog off her" / stop the attack, & the dog then attacked her.
    .
The attack was severe & prolonged; a man who lives nearby was alerted by his 12-YO daughter, & he ran to help. He kicked, punched, & finally beat the dog with his belt - it would not let go, but bit the woman's arm with so much pressure, the bone broke.

He finally tackled the dog, & it released her. // He used his belt & the dog's leash as tourniquets on both her arms; she was reported in critical condition, after being life-flighted to a local hospital. Her daughter was also hospitalized.

this is the uncut video statement of the neighbor who ran to help the woman, he at first thot "they were playing" as he saw the woman "flopping around" on the ground; then he heard her screaming, knew something was very wrong, & ran to her aid.
Unfortunately, he may have caused as much damage as the dog, possibly more - he PULLED ON the dog while it was gripping her arm, & a long "hunk of meat" [his words] stretched from the dog's mouth to her arm. :(

There was no one else on site at the rescue; the dog was a recent arrival, had "only been there a few days", per the rescuer -
the woman chose that dog to take out for a walk because there was a "safe / friendly" sign on his kennel, also per the rescuer; he added that an update the next morning from the woman's husband said she's expected to survive, her right hand will recover. The Drs are not certain about her left hand, which was severely mangled.
    .
the dog returned to attack both of them again, later, as they waited for EMTs to arrive - for some 15 to 20-mins or more, it was just her, him, & the dog - he told his own young children to stay in the house, for fear they, too, would be attacked; he used the woman's mobile to call 911, then phoned his wife, recuperating at home with a badly-injured leg, & had her send his eldest daughter over with a gun, in case the dog came back.
Police eventually caught the dog - I couldn't find an update, presume he was euthanized.
