Thoughts please

    Even give the 1/10 th speed, the Mal owner had plenty of time to distract her dog away from the over long, unhealthy nose-nose greeting, leading the dog off to side verbally.

    Then, the Mal is allowed to rush into the greeting, it's so close so fast it can't really see or take in the calming gestures either. If you as dog walker, aren't willing to take a few seconds for the dogs to communicate at safe distance, it'd proably be a better idea to avoid the on-leash greeting completely.
