Just had to take our lil 4 year old cat Phoebe into the emergency vets tonight.
She had been fine all day went to her basket in front of the heater at 6pm and fell asleep. Me and hubby always feed the cats before we head off to bed, but tonight Phoebe did not emerge from her basket (she is usually into the kitchen before us for her food)
I went to her basket and called on her and she did not even lift her head up which I found rather odd.
I picked her up and she was drooling, tongue sticking out and very lethargic.
I tried to tempt her with her food with no success then she started wretching. Phoned vets straight away, got her there and she is running a temp and has a small ulcer on the back of her throat :(
They are keeping her in overnight on a drip and other meds for inflammation etc, they are unsure whats happening with her.
I am so worried and cannot sleep, can you please spare a thought for her, it would be very much appreciated.

I really hope she's ok :( Hoping for the best for you both, I would also be extremely distressed in your situation. Glad you phoned the vets right off and she's under their care *hugs*

Thanks guys for the well wishes
Update today from the vets is that she has licked something which was harmful and the only thing we can think that she had probably been around was the antibacterial spray we used on the cooker.
She is still on a drip and having regular painkillers, she is not eating due to ulceration of the mouth so they thought best to keep her in another night.

same thing happened to my thelma. She was lethargic, wouldnt eat or drink, dribbling really scary. Took her to the vets and he said she had an ulcer on her tounge. The only thing i could think of was that i had cleaned the floor with anti bacterial floor cleaner that day???? I am now careful to rinse the floor after i clean it. Thelma didnt stay at the vets, she just had anti biotics and pain killing injection, she was better in two days :) hope phoebe is better soon

Thankyou everyone for your kind messages.
We now have Phoebe home, fit and well and eating which is a god send as she was not eating at the vets, she is even lapping her water which is fantastic. We still have to administer Antepsin Susp 3 times a day, but hoping she will not need it much longer.
She is full of cuddles and kisses and I am so happy she is home

A big Miaow from Phoebe to you all xoxoxoxox

I've only just seen this thread; it's really lovely to read that Phoebe received quick treatment from the vet and she's now home and doing well.

Best wishes to you and Phoebe :D
