Bella's stitches are out! - Pet Forums Community

Bella had 3.5 weeks of swelling prior to first show, a very long and painful discharge with LOADS of swelling,
she threw-up (no panties, cleaned obsessively + swallowed lots of mucoid, bloody discharge); flagged for bloody ever,
    cut a paw badly while running in a fenced dog-free zone (to get some bottled-up energy out);
had MANGE (Demodex) due to her suppressed immune-function, and 5 weeks of treatment,
    had a blessedly-short false-preg with toy nursing + boobs,
    and was finally spayed.

the spay + her recovery were a lot more uneventful + far-easier, than was her heat - which was mizrable
for all concerned, especially poor Bella.

the vet commented after her spay-surgery that she was actually incubating an early-stage Pyo, so it was excellent timing.

if this sounds like something U want to go thru every 6-mos with a bitch U do not intend to breed...
please explain Ur reasons, as to me that seems like masochism in the human, and IMO unkind to the bitch.

everyone knows why a quality-bitch is kept intact, i am not questioning that for a moment -
but why anyone would refuse to spay a bitch they never mean to breed, is way beyond my understanding.

    Why ask this now?
    i recently had a behavior-conversation with a woman whose bitch is a random-bred, 4-YO and still intact -
when i suggested spaying her b/c she FIGHTS with other Fs off-leash and challenges them on-lead,
her owner said, Never!... which seems really bizarre to me.

    any enlightenment is appreciated,
    --- terry

Not everyone has such a miserable time of it. Hannah's season was mess free, attracted no other dogs and she wasnt interested in them and both my girls were extra affectionate and cuddly when in season!:D
Having said that I agree with neutering all but show/breeding bitches. Its just irresponsible and bad for their health not to.
