The beetle I couldn't identify

    On those ancient trees...

    It turned out to be a deathwatch beetle! It was hanging around on some really old gnarly wood. It seemed to be hitting its head repeatedly on the wood and now I know why it was doing it - to make a tapping sound and attract a mate.

    There you go - useless factoid for today folks!

    Unlike humans, who usually end up feeling like they are banging their hands on something after they have found a mate!!:mad2::lol::lol:

    Those ancient trees are amazing.
