Nine year old Catahoula/Pit mix was hit by a car about six years ago. Limped for quite awhile and eventually recovered. Last year the limp came back. Saw several doctors. After MRI, x-rays and I think a PET scan, he was diagnosed with soft tissue injury - tendinopathy - in right shoulder. Only sign of pain upon examination was when right leg was moved forward and upwards.

Anti-inflammatories help but does not tolerate for long. Steroid shot helped 80% for a couple of days and then the limp returned.

    Any ideas?

Soft tissue traumas never really go away and given your dogs age there is probably arthritis in the joint too. Are there any vets in your area that offer laser treatment or acupuncture? Another option would be a hydrotherapy pool.
