A bit of a silly thread really but , what would you define as a teacake?...
A bread roll that tastes slightly like cinnamon with raisins in?
choclate on the out side biscut in the bottem and cream and jam in the middle yummmmmmmmmmmmmm hehehehe
thats pretty much what i would say :001_smile:
I soft flat bun with mixed fruit?
A soft flat bun spiced with cinnamon and mixed fruits inside it.
Well, are we the only people who call a bread roll a teacake?
I was wondering if it's a northern thing or just a Cumbrian thing?
Just a plain roll??
This is teacake
Nope that's not our teacakes... That's more like a scone ours are just a bread bun nothing in them just bread, brown or White teacakes
I'm originally from Rochdale in Lancashire and what you call a teacake is what I call a teacake. Possibly a north west thing? I remember being confused as hell in bakeries when I moved to Kent
That's what I call a tea cake.
I like Warburtons they are just fruit, and no nasty spice or peel.
Oh yum that's definately a teacake.
Is that a hair I see going from the middle to the edge of the plate? I'll pass on this one thanks.
Yay.... This morning I had a sausage teacake
I can imagine the confusion in a bakery :yikes:
Oh don't even get me started with this
A bap is a round bread shape
A bread roll is a bread roll
A bun is an iced thing
And I haven't got a clue what a teacake is
If anyone asks me for a teacake they get a fruit bun toasted with butter!
Sick of it, baps, cobs, teacakes, bread cakes, rolls, buns arghhhhhhhh! Its the people that have a go at you when you ask what it is that make me cross.
CAKE = SWEET FOOD since when was a bread roll 'sugary and often decorated'? They're savoury next to no sugar at all
It seemed midlands/northern folk who had nicknames for everything where I worked. Pea mix and all that
I will remain adamant til the day I die that a cob is a pony and not a bread whatever!
thats a teacake to me
and thats made in the northwest by roberts bakery which is up the road from me
I have a craving for any type of bread product now
A current bun! I like mine toasted with loads of lurpak butter on em!
Bun with and fruit toasted or these
