(not sure if this is the right section please move if not)
i was just looking on the section of lost and found and was wondering has any one ever seen or have the dogs ears tattooed i have seen this done on a few english bull terriers in the usa and was wondering is it the same as having them micro chiped and wouldnt it make the dog more recognisable?

imnot getting this done by the way :)

My dogs ears are tattooed as they are ex-racer greyhounds and you can get it done for pets too. I think it makes the dog more easily recognised but if your dog is lost it relies on someone checking for tattoo's and knowing who to contact whereas its common place for stray dogs to be scanned for microchips.

does it work the same as the micro chip? just the reading on the lost and found section i thought mayby it isnt such a bad idea after all to have the ears done so they can be recognised a little easier if lost/stolen

Willow is chipped, I have thought about getting her tattood as well.
Im very paranoid about losing her/her being stolen. In fact I will prob get her DNA tested too.

A lot of bullies are tatooed as a deterrent to being stolen, in pricked up ears breeds it is easily visible.

I intend to get Maya done as I worry about her allot and how many people pay interest in her. I personally think it's good to have both.

All mine are tattooed, they were done by thier breeders. The good thing with a tattoo is the breeder stays as a contact.

My old ridgeback had a tattooed ear. The only problem that has come from having their ear tattooed is if they are stolen for breeding/fighting then they will chop of the ear to avoid being in the possession of a stolen animal

    are you for real??????
i was looking for the smiley face but it wasnt there.

what is out of order with an identity number tattooed inside an ear? its there for the welfare and safety of the animal.

granted not my first choice but your reaction and insults are stupid, crass and unwarranted.

and as for sleeping with animals, well i do that too.

i even have a cuddle and otis likes to spoon up and he nods off while i watch telly.

    omg how perverted is that:eek:

get a life for gods sake.

what about a ring through a bulls nose?

a tag on a cows ear?

a brand on a horse? (dont agree with those)

a bridle and bit, cruelly tying the horse into a leather facial device to forcefully guide it and steer it.

a saddle, evilly putting the horse through the tortuous ordeal of having somebody on its back

i think the fact that your post was hastily written and so misspelt indicates one of the kids nabbed your account and is having a laugh

just looked at your location on the top of your posts and i must agree whole heartedly

People do cut open dogs and horses to try to remove chips. I am an animal lover, I adore my dog, he is tatooed and chipped.

yes it would be boring. but being rational and sensible is fine.
most people would agree that an ear tattoo is a good measure and not unaturally cruel.

but you think its ok to ride a horse though.
probably also ok to have a nice piece of chicken or pork for dinner too.

wouldnt tattoo a child no but children have theyre ears peirced not saying i agree with it but they do i think if it can secure the dog from being stolen or in the event of it being lost i dont think i see the harm in it.
the tattoo is faily small and not like its a full body suit and has to endevour hours of pain.

Kelsey I have never had a problem with your posts in the past but this is just insulting I am not a sick fock and I am not thick and yet my dog is tatooed, can you not have a debate on this subject without being insulting?
