    Hi,
I wonder if anyone has any advice or exlerience of tail amputation on an older dog. Our 14 year old rescue whippet had to go through tjis procedure 10 days ago but it is just not healing well at all. Vet says due to old age and the fact that these are tricky to heal anyway due to bad blood flow?
The fact is that twchnically now she go for a second op but first, ee are not sure she would survive the second anaesthetic in a month and even if she did, thre are no guarantees she'd heal this time so we nust don't know what to do.
Is there any natural remedies I coukd try to help her heal?
    Thanks for listening.

    V

You could try medical grade manuka honey.

Thank you! I think I had seen this in another thread. I will investigate.
I have had a friend vet nurse over this morning and in fact, she thought it does not look bad at all today so advised me to stick to my guns and give it time to heal abd tell my current vet that a second op would be the last resort.
    Thanks again :)

Would agree with this 100%. I was skeptical, even though our vet gave us some to use.
Our dog had a huge open wound due to having to drain a very large infection lump. No one, not even the vet thought it would heal as well or as quickly as it did

    Thanks Rona!
I did not know vets could supply it. I will ask mine on Friday
Our dog's wound is a bit better today so I guess the antibiotics are working nit our very young vet sounded very catastrophic yesterday...
I will defo make enquiries about this. I hope that your dog is well now.
Many thanks again for the feedback :)
