Wow. I've got butterfly envy.
What a beautiful thing
In your Garden?
Just noticed from your other thread that you are in Crete.
I know there's quite a few sightings of them in this country every year
Not my garden unfortunately! Lots of them here in Crete along with all kinds of bugs, most of which seem to want to share the swimming pool with us! Every time I want a swim I have to clear the pool of bugs first.
Here is another swallowtail I photographed today but I noticed the markings are slightly different and the tail is longer. Is it male and female? Or different types of butterfly?
Here's a short video of the butterfly. I did it in slo mo on my phone but it is normal speed on here.
I tried to watch the video but it says it is private
Should be ok now!
What a treat to see such a lovely butterfly.
We saw something similar when we were in Canada a few years ago, there were loads of them.
Second photo is a different species, the Scarce Swallowtail.
