In all seriousness I hope no one has been affected to badly from storm Doris?
Staffordshire is being somewhat battered, trees & power lines down all over the region.
Just saw a thingy that made me laugh, couldn't get link to work but basically advice warning:
Southerners - stay in doors, do not travel
Northerners - you will need your big coat
And I don't think!
We've just received news that married friends of ours have become the first reported victim and casualty of Doris...
She lost a brand new umbrella and he was hit in the face by an empty pizza box as it flew across their garden after a high gust of wind blew their wheelie bin over.
Weve lost our greenhouse
Planes landing in Storm Doris:
Leeds & Bradford Airport
We only had a bit of rain this morning and nothing else where I am in London.
Pretty crazy here right now, but no damage luckily.
My sister in Leicestershire has lost her garden shed - but to be fair it's been there for at least 40 years
Poor lady in Wolverhampton has been killed, so tragic. I am fortunate to be staying indoors today, for all those that are in an affected area and are out and about, stay safe.
I'm in Staffordshire and as mentioned in one of the other various storm Doris threads, we've lost various fence panels, something has dented my car, and my bins are currently in my garage.
And my other half still thinks it's sensible to climb a tree in Derby.
Sorry to hear that.
One of my fence panels is half down. i expect it will go soon but its easy to repair.
Doris was meant to be here a couple of weeks back and it has hit us hard in manchester. Doris please go away fast.
How bad is it in Manchester? Would really appreciate knowing as I have a very elderly aunt up there and she isn't good at answering her phone - it's cordless and she puts it back on the base unit upside down so it doesn't charge.
I'll try my best to fill that one in. Put it this way, today has been a nightmare with the strong winds and heavy rain. Doris had me losing balance today while walking. Really awful. Hope your aunty is ok.
Thank you danielled. Have you had any power cuts?
Not as far as I'm aware. Where in manchester is she. I might be able to find out if there has been any power cuts where she is.
A FlyBe plane has crash landed at Schipol Airport Amsterdam due to the landing gear collapsing in high winds:
Storm Doris seems to be affecting parts of Europe as well as the UK.
The MET office are calling Doris a weather bomb.
Doris has been up to mischief at work! Very strong winds, very tricky landings and a lot of pilots deciding not to try to land, even at very late notice.
The wind this morning on the south coast was gusty but not too bad. A few wheelie bins blew over in our roads but that's about it. Made running this morning hard work!
