I wasn't expecting to read that tonight. RIP Stephen Hawking.
Just read this on the news. So sad.
RIP Stephen Hawking
I saw a friend post about it on FB and it honestly floored me. Everyone knew he had an illness, but there was always this quiet belief that he’d just keep going...well, my quiet belief anyway
The world feels a bit empty.
Very sad day. A brilliant man and seemed so genuine, kind and with a good sense of humour. He will be fondly remembered through history as one of our great, and brilliant, individuals.
(His appearances as himself in cartoons like Futurama cement in history his good humour)
A great loss to the world.
May he Rest in Peace
A man who lived well beyond his time.
I'm sure this 'God' might have a few words of wisdom for him.
Sleep well, Stephen, you've certainly earned your rest.
His body may not have worked for him but his brain certainly did. Brilliant and much admired. RIP Stephen
It's actually rather remarkable when you think about it that he got to the age of 76. Testament to his will and to the medicine and technology that kept him going.
Guess he knows now the answer to the ultimate question.
I wasn't expecting it and it was a shock. I had a little cry for him.
He used to make me laugh in the Big bang Theory .
My OHs uncle met him once. He was a fireman and years ago they came across Stephen when his battery motor on his wheel chair had run out . They took him home in their fire engine !
Love this quote of his that his children have used this morning:
'It would not be much of a universe if it wasn't home to the people you love.'
A very sad loss. He contributed so much, helped us understand our universe. It was amazing he reached the age of 76, I think everything about him was remarkable!
A sad loss of a most remarkable man. I hope he has the answers now.
So incredibly sad. He was often out and about in Cambridge and very approachable. A few friends have said it’s very hushed in the city today, as if we can’t quite believe this great man has left us knowing he had so much more to teach us.
The University of Cambridge have released this
Very sad to hear of Professor Hawkins passing.
He spoke my language politically too.
A sad loss, what an amazing person....
I love that quote @MilleD
RIP Stephen, what a sad loss of a great man
It's great isn't it? He was never one to waste words. Succinct and heartfelt
That's a lovely quote and so true
So sad, we have lost a most talented man.
