I keep finding empty hazelnut shells in my garden, I think I know who the culprit is now!

When I lived in Berlin we used to get red squirrels in the garden. I was talking to my neighbour over the garden fence and had baby squirrels running up and down the fence line and over my feet. Lovely little things, do miss seeing them

Haven't seen any squirrels in my garden for weeks now.

    Wondering where they are?

I have a grey squirrel building two dreys in my sycamore tree! Never even seen a squirrel drey before so very exciting watching the squirrel work!

Would still expect them to come and get the free peanuts I put in their feeder!

For the moment, ours have gone as well. They used to sit in the birch tree and swear at our cats hanging around because they wouldn't let them descend. I haven't seen them for a while now, but their winter supplies should be full anyway, at least if I look at the hazelnut trees. Pity. Anyway, I planted the hazelnuts years ago just to attract the red squirrels. It took 10 years I believe until they noticed this source :D

Years ago I trained a couple of squirrels to come in through the patio door and help themselves to a bowl of peanuts. Problem was that when I shut the door they would climb all over the screen trying to get in.

    Saw
Actually saw one at the nut feeder last week - a plump female with big boobies! I reckon she's been busy nesting and having babies! :)

I haven't seen any here for ages either. Think ours have gone back to the woods.
