Not too bad, honestly, I almost enjoyed it. Vastly preferable to points on your licence!

When do they send you on them? I know for being caught speeding, but is it repeat offenders, or just mild offences, like <5mph over?

I have just returned from attending one! It was quite interesting and was surprised to see it was mainly 40 somethings and not young whippet snappers!

Its if you've only been speeding by like a couple of mph! OH got sent on one a few years ago, was doing about 33 in a 30 zone! Much preferred that to 3 points too! Does cost abit more than the £60 fine though x

I was offered it but refused, I was 3mph over the limit:rolleyes:
Now if anyone that drives can tell me they never went 3mph over the limit in their lives I will be surprised:rolleyes:

I have to admit I do speed, and the coppers nearly caught me out the other day on a hill, but I was just too clever for them and I wouldn't get sent for one as its only a max 38mph in a 30 zone, I do about 40mph.

Speed cameras I go through at 25mph just to be certain they don't get me!

I'd rather do a course than 3 points for being 3mph over the limit!

Its the principal, cant be doing with someone telling me about speeding:rolleyes: when infact it was 3mph over the limit, Ive been driving for 33yrs and never had a point on my license, so I would rather pay the fine:rolleyes:

No never done one. They've stopped offering the course in Dorset until Dorset joins up with a nationwide one and that's not for a few months yet.

If I got busted for doing 3mph over the limit I'd ask that their speed detection camera was calibrated

In my area they offered the speed awareness course to all drivers that were interested. I would liked to have done that :)

I didnt think they could fine you for 3 mph over the limit because there is a 10% leeway

Not done the course myself although a friend of mine did, swore she'd never speed again :) few months later was telling me that she got off a recent speeding ticket cos when she asked for photo clarification, the photo was taken her recently deceased close family member was in the car with her (driving them back home, not a ghost ;)), she complained that she found this upsetting so they let her off

I Have been on TWO Speed Awareness Courses.
Biggest load of crap I have been to. I swear I will take the points next time.

They are only there to keep the "crime figures" down ( If you go on a Speed Awareness Course then its not reported as a crime) and to make the council money.
That is the sales pitch of the people that sell them. they tell the council to put them on the School run in the mornings, the parents are to frustrated with there kids to notice the camara, and put them by factories for the evenings, the worker has had a hard day and all he/she wants to do is get home
