We all moan about the reception some new members get, yet so many of them get ignored, which i find worse.

Many "noobs" post in the introduction thread first, and will include the problem that brought them here. Yet, instead of helpful replies, or a point in the right direction, all they get is multiple replies of "hi, welcome to PF". Is it really that much of a challenge to help someone out or give them some guidance of how to use the forum?

T hats not the problem:). Its the ones that go in, post, but dont offer any help. Some problems are obviously causing distress to the member, yet all they get is "hi and welcome".

    ** Mod Hat On**
I think the problem is that, we try not to encourage discussing problems/issues etc in introductions,as, as pointed out, not every one goes there, and thats what all the other sections are for, Introductions is just for that, saying hi. The trouble is, that the newbies find the site, find intros, and get carried away and ask there questions there.
Maybe, both us Mods, and you as members can maybe redirect them to the appropriate section whilst saying hi?
The mods can move the threads to the appropriate section to, but this creates a small problem to, as if the op has said Hi Peeps My name is... i'm from.. i have 341 cats 821 dogs and 1 bunnie, da da da da.. oh and i have a problem with my Alligator in the bath, he only uses Imperial Leather ... its is both an introduction and a repile post..
Am i waffling here, or do you understand were I'm comming from.
So like i say, maybe whilst replying to there threads you could take a couple more seconds and say something along the lines of, 'If you post your Alligator problem in the reptiles section i'm sure your get a better response'

Thats what i mean. Just a point in the right direction, rather than ignoring the problem/query.

I often give advice to new members who take the trouble to post in the cat areas where the problem will get answered by someone. I can't help with other problems but try to offer advice on cats.

I thought the intro bit was to say Hi, I;m so and so and I have x amount of pets. Then, if they had a prob with their cat not eating for example then they go to to the health bit and ask!

If they post their prob in the intro bit then not many people will answer, all that can be done is to point them in the right direction.

I also think alot of people just go there and write HI welcome to PF to increas their post count!
