Something in puppy poop

    Sorry if I should have put this in another thread! My puppy did a poop this morning, and I found a little red bug/parasite in it. Not sure if it is a parasite, or something she's just eaten. It almost looks like a mini red woodlouse, except it doesn't have legs that I can see. It has little pincers or something at the front. Help!

    Sounds horrible, no advice, best to call your vet surgery and have chat with nurse if concerned :)

    Thanks. No idea what it is :( She's up to date with everything, so I'm a bit stumped!

    Probably just a woodlouse, but I've never seen a red one! :eek:

    Looks vile! Maybe you should take it to the Vets? Have you watched the series on Discovery......Monsters inside me???? :eek:

    Show the pic to your vet!! Maybe just something he ate and passed through. Fingers crossed.

    Yeh I hope so. She seems well otherwise. Maybe I worry too much! Thanks for everyone's help on this. Really appreciate it :)

    Maybe she ate the bug but its soooo hardy it survived the trip through her digestive system!!! :eek:

    You could try posting on a wildlife forum such as Wild About Britain to get an ID.

    My guess would be that its an environmental insect, rather than an internal parasite.

    Hopefully it just dropped onto the poop and has nothing to do with your dog.
