Such a beautiful boy, it's interesting how much darker he's got as he's matured, Rogue was the opposite, she & her sibs were all solid black at birth but started getting varying creeping tan or cream points after just a few days. Rogue's other sibs didn't get quite as light as her & one of her sisters. Aside from colour Charlie looks so similar to them in build & coat type.
Thank you, yeah he looks like a different dog as a pup he was so light, it’s weird how much they change isn’t it! All of Charlie’s siblings were black and white, he was the only brown pup. They were meant to be from a bucovina, one of the owners did a dna test and it came up Spanish greyhound, saluki and unknown xx your dog looks so like him in your profile pic, would love to see more pics xx
One thing worth bearing in mind with DNA tests is they often only list dog breeds recognised by the kennel clubs in the country of origin, US DNA tests done on UK dogs often throw up breeds we don't even have in large numbers in the country like coonhounds & Catahoula leopard dogs.
The black & white pups do sound like Bucovinas, but Charlie looks very much like a Carpathian shepherd, basically the same dog but with a lot less white!
Yeah I know the dna tests aren’t very good and they don’t include the Romanian breeds, I joined carpathian sites when I first got him as that’s what I thought he looked like. He has a lot of traits of a carpathian. The bucovina information only turned up recently from one of the rescuers. Xx
This is him with his litter mates x
Gorgeous looking pups!
So cute! What breed is he?
Thank you, he’s a mongrel.
