Just come off the phone with a friend who used this line in her conversation:

"So I turned around and said..."

    LOL

She always says it. I imagine that everytime she wants to reply to someone in a conversation that she spins 360 degrees before opening her mouth.

Is this a common thing to say? Do any of you "turn around" in order to say something? LOL

Nope not in my sentences! :D

There is always something someone says though! "to be honest" is mine! :D

I suppose that if I think about it, mine would be, "I accept that, but..." or some other variation of that. LOL

    AAAAAAAAAAAARGH

    I HATE THAT PHRASE

....I mean, seriously hate it! I cringe when anyone says it, it just sounds so stupid and slobbish, and I imagine the same thing, like someone doing a little twirl before replying to the other person!

Why on earth would you say that? Surely it is a lie! You would look ridiculous if you 'turned around' before replying to someone!

There's a girl in my group at college who ALWAYS says it...and I mean, when she is recalling a conversation with someone, she will replace "she said" "he said" or "I said" with "he/she/I turned round and said" and it gets VERY irritating VERY quickly.

I hate, hate, hate it when someone uses that stupid phrase!

The most common thing to slip out my mouth is 'And I was like' or 'He was like' or 'She was like' and after that I say what I/he/she said! I bet my friends get fed up, oh and my teachers probably do too because I say like a LOT! It seems to happen a lot with the northerners. I really don't know why!

Yeah, I have to admit that even after my little rant, I am guilty of the overuse of the word "like" in conversation, I use it almost like a pause... again, it's probably down to being northern :D

Being a mum I get asked "mum where's my ..... (insert whatever they're looking for at that time)" I usually respond "I'll get it for you, now in a minute" total contradiction

    I hate this
' ...but the point is ....' used at least 10 times in an hour conversation by my sister in law

    I hate this

'...did you catch my drift ...' used every 10 minutes by some one I know .....

    I hate this
' ... cost alot of money when it was new....' and the item is at least 100 years old (usually bed spreads , jumpers and bed covers)
used by my mother in law every time I remind her to get rid of the bloody cloture

My mother is bad for saying "Cut a Long Story Short"........she ends up going round the roundabouts and in and out of the street just to make a story short,...............hellsbells...if that was the short version I dont want to hang around for the LONG version.

My son always says, "like" in his sentances.
My younger son say's BUTT to any and anyone. You must be mad BUTT, or your off your head BUTT.
