Does anyone know anything about roll on and roll off ferries...

I've been watching https://www.myshiptracking.com/ and last night I watching the ferry arrive at Jersey stern first so the cars can drive off and reload so cars are now facing the bow, so I would have thought that when it returned to Portsmouth it would go in bow first so they would drive straight off, but no it went in stern first so how do they get the cars off or am I missing something.

Silly question but it's really got in my head!

Depending on the ship, some have doors at both end. Or on the side in fact.

I know they have doors both ends but if they load one end shouldn't unload at the other, like a one way system one way one and one way off.

If you know the name of the ship you could look up it’s design. I’ve been on ferries where I have had to reverse off, sometimes I have driven off out the side, some I have turned around inside the ferry(like a car park) so you drive forward and turn around.

Thank you that would make sense,

She's called the Commodore Clipper she's a Ro-Ro passage ferry she runs between Portsmouth and Jersey
