Hi, we have a 14 week old working cocker spaniel and have an issue with him being in a different part of the house to us. We are currently using a stairgate (until he is fully toilet trained) so he only has access to the ground floor (we are in a three level townhouse).

He is fine when we leave the house, as if he sees the back door closed, he knows we have gone out. But when we both go upstairs he has a massive breakdown, starts with a whinge and then a massive howling!!

Any tips on how we manage this please?

Create a pee proof pen upstairs and take him up with you.
