That was the nickname she got from us...She was an English bulldog with an almost concave face..

Kaylee was 6 when my son saw her, a friend was buying a puppy from her owner, she was being used to help feed his coke addiction...

Disgusted at the way she was kept my son went back a few weeks later and made an offer for her..

When he got her home she had some mange and she stunk like a drain and her breath and her facial folds gave off stomach churning odours..

But after a course of antibiotics and special baths plus daily gentle cleaning to get rid of the huge amount of flith amassed in her face she was finally ready to meet other dogs.
But Kaylee had never been socialised and apart from being mated every year she never interacted with any other dogs so she wasnt too friendly.

It was my boys, esp Oscar (RIP) who gave her space , didnt react to her air snaps and growls that finally made her realise other dogs could be nice and she settled in to life with my son.
She went off all over the place with him grunting like a little pig she would tour the country when he went off to look at cars..She loved him and grunted and squealed with pure joy everytime she saw him.

But recently she hadnt been too active , she was nearly 10 and she spent most of her time at home with a friend.

Yesterday she seemed to be having more trouble than ever with her breathing and a visit to the vet showed a tumour in her throat blocking her airway. There was nothing the vet could do, and so she was PTS.

Even though I know she reached a good age for an English bulldog and I know that the last 4 years have been happy and good its still hard ..

    Sleep tight sweet dreams Kaylee..RIP

I can sense your pain and am so sorry to hear your news.

Your story paints a picture and Kaylee was lucky that you and your son came into her life. Twice you have put an end to her suffering when she needed you most. Grieve for her but be happy too for the memories she gave you.

Tot Ziens Kaylee. Have fun with Scrabble whilst you wait.

Losing one has been one of the most painful life experiences I have endured. Losing two is just unimaginable. I hope you find a way to cope with the pain.
