I thought I had seen/heard it all! Okay, not all, but I'm not exactly a spring chicken and I have my share of life experience.
I have NEVER heard of this and it just popped up on FB so of course I had to google, and OMG, it's a thing?!

    Spitting in your dog's mouth.

Yes. You hold the dog's mouth open and spit in their mouth. Because? Because IDK? Reasons?

    Go ahead. Google it.

I’ve never heard of that before. Having duly googled it seems it’s something that’s been around for quite a while, found a reference in 2008 saying it was an old wives tale, one I’ve not heard of and I am an old wife.
There was also something about it establishing dominance over your dog:rolleyes:

    Errrr....what now?
Probably some old weird dominance rubbish, but even then I can't see a reason??

    I'm just sitting here giggling!

As best I can figure it's supposed to mimic an adult dog regurgitating food in to a puppy's mouth.
To be fair, I have spit cheese at Bates before, started as a good eye contact game, became a fun party trick. But his face and mine were well far apart!
And I have let dogs clean up baby spit-up so I guess that's akin to vomiting in your dog's mouth? :Hilarious:Hilarious

I've threatened my dogs with regurgitation if they lick near my mouth too much - does that count?

:eek:I am so confused…! I also can’t help but think you’d have to have incredibly accurate aim or your dog would be covered in spit

Aw, c’mon folks, how bad can it be? I mean, we aren’t talking about the dog spitting in your mouth after all …

    (can dogs even spit?)

Dogs drool though....it might be like Chinese water torture if dogs were 'spitting' at their humans

Much worse is letting your dog lick your mouth, yuck. Dogs eat poo and allsorts. I've never let my dogs lick my face.

Oh how odd. I was just trying to think of the name of this movie, earlier today. I can't believe it!

Oh you have to see videos of these geniuses doing it. They open the dog's mouth with their hands, put their face right in there, and spit. That's where I saw it first. On youtube. The algorithm is totally messed up apparently! :Wtf
