We've had a garmen for years, it's pretty old but can be updated oonline and is simple to use and was pretty cheap at the time compared to the others around.

I used a Garmin in my flying lessons last year, and it wasn't a car sat-nav either... :p

Beware of tom-toms, these things have taken us down one-way streets. :yikes:

We used to have a cheap one called a navigo, I thought I was getting a bargain but it gave every direction 20yds after you had already passed the junction and if there was a new road layout and you had to go a differednt route it wouldnt learn the new route and just kept insiting that you did a u turn, we were better off with a map.

I don't like Tom Toms, we were in Blackpool and it wanted us to drive into the sea to get home, because that would have been by far the quickest way to get home! and also doesn't know 1 way streets. I have a Blaupunkt one, and its great and takes you the right way, sometimes can be scenic route until you tell it to avoid stuff, but I like it!
