Our 11 year old boxer Harvey was diagnosed last month with a grossly enlarged heart and irregular heartbeat. After a 24 hr ECG and loads of tests at a specialist animal hospital, he was put on a variety of meds. Our bill has just come in and they came to £199 for a month's supply. The meds were: Amiodarone HCL 100mg tabs, Benazepril HCL 20mg tabs, Frusemide 40mg tabs, Pimobendan Caps Vetmedin 5mg. They seem to have made a difference to him and the cough he had prior to going on them has now gone. We now face a huge dilemma - do we continue at £200 a month to keep him going, which obviously we want him around as long as possible or do we stop the tabs and hope he keeps going for as long as possible without them. Does anyone know a way round getting meds cheaper? i've done a bit of googling but don't really seem to have come up with any results in the UK. Am wondering if via this forum someone may have some advice or guidance. Thanks in anticipation of anyone's help.
