    Hi everyone,

A while ago I posted a thread about a family who's kitten had gotten pregnant and who were letting the tiny kittens run around the street. I called the rspca and logged a compliant but I don't think they did much as the kitten was pregnant again straight away and 6 weeks ago gave birth to 4 kittens. My friend has just called so say that the owner can't find home for them so is about to turf them out. She is going to take 1 in to find a new home but we need homes for the other 3. She has called all of our local rescues but they are all full so I'm thinking about taking 3 in until we can find homes for them. This won't be a problem with my 2 as they LOVE other kittens (especially winston who just wants to be friends with everything...dogs, rabbits, birds :) but I know 5 kittens in a 2 bedroom house might be a bit too much. I've told my oh that they will hopefully only be with us a few weeks as I'll advertise for good homes in the vets, onlione etc.

How quickly do you think I will be able to find homes for them?

Is there any way that the kitten's mother can be removed from these irresponsible people?
At the very least she could be prevented from becoming pregnant yet again, and she could then be neutered.

Yes. I have thought about cat-knapping her, getting her spayed and then rehoming her

What a shame for these poor cats.

I would definately take the kittens in and re-home them.

I just hope that they neuter mum.

It makes me so mad that people don't get their female cats neutered and then they just let them wander out all the time. Our cat shadow was about 18 months old when he took her in, she was heavily pregnant (with her second litter of kittens) and they just left her when they moved house.

Good luck with finding the kittens new homes, they are lucky to have found you.

Unfortunately the oh will only let me take 1 in so I'm going to collect one tonight after work. My mum is ringing around her friends to see if anyone can take the other 2 until we can find homes for them.

I think I'm going to collect a boy tonight as Lola seems to prefer boys and ignores girl kittens when we've had females round before.

    Hi

Thanks for much for your offer and apologies for the late reply. I have hopefully managed to find good homes for the 3 I have here now with family and a work collegue but as they are only just 6 weeks old I think I might keep them here for another 2 weeks just so they are better socialised and a bit older.

The family are keeping hold of 2..not sure how they are going to afford to keep them but I'll keep trying to persuade them that its best they let me have tose 2 aswell.

Here are some pics and videos of them....they are not fazed by Winston & Lola atall although Lola is still a little unsure of them and will growl of they get too bouncy near her but I guess it is only their 1st full day here (although she did come onto my lap for a sleep last night whilst the 3 kittens were there aswell so thats progress).

All 3 are very very friendly, playful and confident (and very noisy :D) !!!

Just a quick update...the two black and white sisters went to their new home last weekend. They're now living on a farm in the middle of the countryside and the new owners are hoping they will be great mousers. The tabby boy is still here as his new owners are currently on honeymoon so he will be leaving us in a week or so. I will be REALLY upset to see him go as he LOVES winston & lola and sleeps on the bed between us at night. I've got a bit too attached I think.

The original owners FINALLY had the mum cat neutered but they kept 2 of the kittens back (despite the owner hating cats and saying he couldn't afford them...i think it was more for his kids that they kept 2. One of the kittens broke its leg and surprise surprise they could not afford to pay for any of the treatment so they have signed her over to the rspca. Grrr, it makes me mad

Let this be a warning that you should NEVER get a pet unless you have insurance or could afford to pay for treatment should your pet need any.

What a fantastic thing you are doing, its a shame we dont live closer because i would happily help out. It's so annoying when people are so irresponsible.
