Please help!!! My family rescued a baby bird (We think that its a baby pidgeon aprox. 12 days old) Our neighbours were cutting down a tree but didn't check for a nest and before we could stop them the poor baby fell out of the nest (no injuries sustained) but the mother isn't coning back. We have read online that we should feed it things like mushed up biscuits. Thats what we have been trying to feed it since last night. We have also tried to feed it seed and mealworm. The bird just ignored the seeds and worms but is only pecking at the mushed biscuits. We have managed to get the bird to eat a little but we are in desperate need of advice of what we can feed it or do to comfort it. // Thank you in advance, Emily.

There is a link below from a pidgeon and dove rescue that gives information about feeding orphans that may be of help

    http://www.pigeonrescue.co.uk/whattofeed.htm

You may also if you check have a wildlife rescue centre near you, they will often take and rear orphaned baby birds so that may be worth checking.

Hi I have hand raised many pigeons successfully. I useually use very fine porridge. Mixed with small seed. You should give them food depending on the age e.g. every half hour then every one to two hours.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

Hi and welcome. This post is a year old so hopefully the OP found a way to feed the bird. Useful information though :)
