    Having a dental.
We took her down at 8.30 am, straight from her bed to the car, she was not happy about no breakfast !
The vet phoned at 11am to say her liver enzymes were slightly raised so would need post op fluids and recheck in 6 weeks.
She just phoned again to say she's round from the anaesthetic and looking for food. We can pick her up at 5pm.

Good news! Even when they are in for something routine it's a worry, so glad she's OK and I'm sure you'll all be glad to be back together later.

Awake and looking for food is always good :)
Glad all went well and hopefully re-check is uneventful, sometimes liver enzymes play around. Hopefully that's all this is.

Glad to hear all's well did they have to remove any teeth? It's always a relief when you get that phone call to say they're coming round, bet you couldn't wait to have her back

The vet estimated that she would need 5-6 teeth out including the top canines. I've really tried hard to keep her teeth clean but she would not tolerate brushing, so feeling a bit like a bad mum.

She's a small dog...with a pointy mouth. Ask any vet what problems toy/small breeds have it's teeth.

Pointy dogs like sighthounds also have a problem

I own both! Yes mine tolerate brushing so much, have lots to chew but in the big scheme of things I may be just fighting biology to some respect.

So no you are not a bad mum @SusieRainbow

    Yes,the vet said the same.
Tango had 9 teeth out at 9 yrs old ,just before we got her , and the ones she had left were fine until she died.
Bobby's seem to be more spaced out, he has a much longer jaw.

In the big scheme of things that isn't too many...

Cleo came to me with one front tooth...which I named her zombie tooth from a friend's little boy. So no teeth till the canines except one and...no idea how many back teeth had been removed. In October last year she had what they described as an intensive dental..didn't ask about how many teeth just wanted and she needed her teeth in tip top condition with her heart condition. She definitely needed the dental though as her want for harder chewed intensified!

Suzie went in for a dental 5 years ago and they said a few may need to come out, they removed 10!! Poor thing has no front top or bottom teeth and like you I felt bad but the vet told me Cavaliers do have dental problems also, as in a heavy build up of plaque because of the way they are positioned. Ive tried to keep them as sparkly as they were after the vet had cleaned them but Ive lost the battle and they,re furred up again, because of her heart they can't be done again

It's a shame that they can't offer a dental due to I am presuming MVD...

Cleo was diagnosed in the April, and had her dental in October. Was advised due to the bacteria infection that can cause more heart problems. She needed it doing anyway.

It's really awful you do everything you can, but we just can't fight biology.

Poor little girl had 13 teeth out ! I do feel bad, no matter what anyone says, that they got to that stage but it wasn't for want of trying. We had Canident, Dentisept, Petzlife spray , you name it, but as the vet and others have said the anatomy is not favourable.
Regarding her bloods, they aren't too worried about her ALT as apparently bacterial infection can elevate it. She has antibiotics and pain relief and going for a check-up on Saturday + Bobby for his kennel cough vaccine.
