I sliced the very tip of my little finger completely off chopping onions. :( It bled profusely for a VERY LONG time. It's going to bleed whether you take off the dressing or not. You might need to change the dressing.

Squidgy means blood. although it may only be leaking now rather than spurting.

But I think I'd be sneaking a peak too.

Been bleeding for around 3 hours now, initially soaked a tea towel, when dressed the blood still seeped through the dressing, I just keep putting more on top, it has slowed down though!

The strange thing is it does NOT really hurt much at all - just a sort of mild throb if you know what I mean. BUT I do feel really light headed and weak!

Try to keep your hand held up, above heart level as it will help to stop the bleeding. Don't be tempted to take the dressing off as you may take off any clot that's starting to form to seal the injury. If you feel light headed sit down - but keep your hand raised.

Mine bled for several hours and throbbed like hell. Don't take any aspirin which will cause you to bleed more. Lie down on your back and keep it elevated on a towel covered pillow placed over your belly and try to relax if you can.

There are lots of small blood vessels in the fingers and it's going to bleed for a while.

Sounds to me like you need to go to A and E and need stiches/ glue.

Drink plenty of fluids (not booze :001_huh:) and eat something.

    Good luck:thumbup1:

elevate wound above heart level, lay patient down

    apply dressing (sterile)

if that leaks apply another over first dressing, do not remove first dressing

transport patient to A&E (or triage if theyve gone all fancy)

Have drank two bottles of lucozade since doing it, but don't know if Ive done right as I have low blood pressure and the hospital have told me before that by doing that your BP raises and then falls swiftly.

Think I may go and lay down maybe if I close my eyes I'll feel better
