So I'm working on my animal studies college assignment on behaviour in animals

One of the questions is 'Posturing - what is it and why', but I can't find out anything on the internet about what that means. Unless it means body language? Or do rats have specific postures that sat signify different things?

    Thanks

Okay according to my tutor "It’s when rats run sideways with an arched back generally when interacting with other rats. And also standing on their hind legs using their front legs to bat/hit/shove another rat."

Can someone explain why they do this?
