    Hello,

One of the kittens I'm getting is black but if you look at her in certain lighting, you can see a hint of tabby. I found out that this is called ghost tabby and the markings fade as they get older.

Does anyone know anything about it? Will she become a fully black cat as she gets older?

It doesn't matter to me either way but was just curious.

Here's a pic so you can see what I mean...

  2. Most black moggies have tabby markings - as she gets older they will only show up in certain lights.

Its intereting if they need an op - the shaved bit often shows the stripy skin!

This brings back memories of when we looked at our 2 kittens.
I was almost ecstatic that the girl was a 'chocolate tabby'.
She is, of course, plain ol' black now!

Black panthers - melanistic leopards and jaguars - also show ghost markings in strong light!
