Hello, my grandad has got 3 quails 2 girls and a boy he has had them for about 13/14 months now

He says that the females are laying eggs but they are scattering them all over the place

Is there anything he can do to stop this? and also why will they not sit on the eggs to hatch them?

I have read something about putting 'fake' eggs in so the females will not lay anymore, is this a good thing to do?

    any advice would be great

    thank you

Quail dont make good mums, if you want to hatch them you need an incubator. If they are still laying with real eggs on the floor putting dummy eggs in isn't going to stop them.
