Hi I bought my french bulldog in april. She was supposed to have a health check, but she went in for a operation as she had broken her elbow, upon assessment she was diagnosed with a heart murmur which was confirmed yesterday at liverpool veterinary university after undergoing a ECG. Contacted breeder but shes not bothered and has now just blanked all messages, but also Been waiting for her kc reistration papers to come through from kennel club, finally they have. But I bought my girl who was advertised as a lilac/tan but her registration says blue/tan. Why has this been done. I have messaged breeder but they just blank me. Any help would be appreciated

The above may help, it's along the same vein
You should be aware that blue and lilac are undesirable colours, and cannot be shown, neither should they be bred for, by a responsible ethical breeder
Both are not 'colours' in themselves, but, dilutions of black and tend towards more skin and coat problems (colour dilution alopecia just being one)
Tbh when buying a pup, the colour of its coat should be one of, if not the, last consideration
Post#19 in the above link by @ShibaPup , shows what you should have been more interested in and asked about
The fact no one is answering your messages, to me, is a huge red flag for a byb and I, personally, would be checking the validity of the registration re parents, grandparents etc

Did the vet tell you what grade your dog's heart murmur was? I'm assuming hers isn't an 'innocent' murmur as young pups can have them & then they spontaneously disappear on their own.

It sounds like her breeder was unethical, but I'm unclear on the elbow- did the injury occur while the puppy was still with the breeder?

I agree with most of what you are saying but coat colour is not the last consideration with a lot of people. If you know what you want that is what you look for. If you want a black lab you do not go after a yellow one. If you want a sable sheltie you do not go after a tri or a merle. If you want a black poodle you do not go after a white or cream. As blue and lilac are both undesirable colours it probably does not matter too much as hopefully the dog will not be bred from and it cant be shown and by the time they have faded they probably look the same anyway

But those are specifically recognised coat colours, within the standard of those breeds and, (apart from me having a query re single Merle) have no detriment to the breed/dog itself
So yes I agree with you, in that respect
    However
Frenchies are a health mess anyway,
Add into that the skin and allergies that colour dilution can, and often does, bring,
(information which is easy to find if one does proper research before buying, and only goes to responsible ethical breeders for a pup )
searching out so called 'rare colours', and paying a premium for them, should be the last thought when looking for a healthy example of the breed

I'm a little surprised that the Kennel Club has accepted a registration for blue or lilac puppies.

These are unrecognised colours, per the Breed Standard.

I've posted the report here. And she broke her elbow last week, in my care. She jumped of decking after her sister.

I believe the kc have started excepting blues or blue/tan as shes registerd . But shes a lilac&tan and all other paperwork ie:vaccination card are saying lilac/tan.
I have since spoken to breeder and shes now telling me that there was no option for lilac as the kc do not register lilacs. So she registered as blue/tan. It's not just my girl she has done this with she has done it for the rest of the litter(litter of 9). Will this impact my insurance ect. She was advertised as lilac&tan.

I'm sure the Kennel Club will be interested to know she has forged the registration application.

See I dont no how the kennel club works. But I was told that because lilac isnt there in the drop down she has just picked the blue/tan. But now do I gave a case against her not just over heart murmur but also forging the papers.

I'm not sure. It seems to me that she has given false information when registering these pups. If the Kennel Club will not accept lilac, then they should not have been registered and the Kennel Club would take a dim view of someone who has bent the truth in this way.

I believe you need to speak to someone who specialises in this field and I think that would be someone called Trevor Cooper. I think that is his name, but there are others on here who know and can link you to him.

Hi rafa I am at this moment having a lot of trouble with this breeder. I have been intouch with the TSA, and they assured me that this breeder should either give me a full refund or pay so much back to me plus pay all vet fees towards any treatment my girl needs going forward.
She has now started getting very personal with me, calling me a bad owner because my girl broke her elbow(even though I'm assured by the orthopedic surgeon whom operated assured me that frenchies are predisposed to elbow brakes). Shes now demanding I return Darla to her. But no refund saying that she fears for her life. Even though I look after5 frenchies. 3 are my childrens. I have owned dogs most of my life as I have horses so I no what im doing. Thankyou for your help.
