Hi. Teddy is now 15 weeks old and gorgeous and 99% well behaved. I just can't seem to divert the nipping and chewing away from people's feet , toes and faces!! It's driving me nuts. He constantly nips and tugs on clothes, which is pretty normal I understand. I have been told to divert him with something he loves to chew. Problem is there isn't anything!
He doesn't like plastic toys at all!!
I have been told not to give him bones, rawhide, paddywack, chew sticks etc so am baffled how to divert him from nipping my daughter as there is nothing he likes!

Any ideas would be gratefully recieved

I personally would walk out of the room so he's getting no attention. Leave him for a few minutes, return if he does it again just keep walking away.

Who says you can't give him anything decent to chew on? If he's supervised, and the item is large...larger is usually better than small I don't understand the problem.

He is my first dog so I am overwhelmed with information. We did try walking out of the room but he bites our feet. He is even trying to nip my fingers as I write this. We are trying to put him out the room when he does this for a minute but it's hard

Have you tried a soft toy?

Yes. He isn't that interested in them. Certainly not enough to give up a tasty toe lol

Consistency is key - there's no overnight cure.

My pup has raw duck necks, raw turkey necks, dried gullets, beef scalp, pigs ears, lamb ears, pizzles - probably other stuff I can't remember!! Just supervise them - they should be alright. She also has an antler but she doesn't actually chomp on it, more shaves it with her teeth.

Go onto the Zooplus website and check out the chews on there especially the dried beef scalp, cows ears and cow hooves. Smelly, but as far as the puppies concerned, lovely. They dompkzzles on there to so you don't have to actually ask anyone:D

Who said not to give the chews to puppies?

All three of my local pet shops!!! All told me to stick to plastic chews or soft toys!

    Strange.

I wouldn't give rawhide or these cooked bones that some shops sell. A lot of the chews on Zooplus are natural and dried and are fine for puppies and young dogs. Always supervise though.

When Freya was wee she had a penchant for chewing us and our clothes, we started to give a really loud ow when she did it. She stopped after a few days. We gave her muslin sheets with knots in to chew because plastic toys didn't last 5 minutes!
