Our puppy had his 2nd injection last Tuesday it was vanguard, the vet said we can take him out two weeks after his injection. Our friend who had her 2nd injection (same brand vanguard) but at a different vet was told her puppy can go out 7 days later?

Hopefully some advice could clear this up with the two different time scales as I don't want to put my puppy at some unnessary risk

Actually you should take him out in a carrier or sling as soon as possible- like now - to let him build experience of the sounds, sights and smells that are out there from a safe place. He can also meet vaccinated dogs. As to when the vaccinations become effective; I will bow out to the greater experience of other members on that one.

I took mine out after about five days, however I live in a rural area without to many other dogs about and felt socialisation outweighed the risk of her picking up any diseases.
If you live in an area where there are a large amount of possibly unvaccinated dogs about then I would be more cautious, but I think after a week you should be ok

I've had him out since we got him at 8 weeks, always carrying him, been near busy roads, picking the children up from school, out in the car etc just to get him used to the different sights and sounds. He goes out it our back garden and has been socialised with a few dogs who have to immunisions. Just looking forward to getting him out for walks

To be honest it's only another week or so, so probably just stick to what the vet said, for sake of three extra days not really worth going against his advice. We're just eager to get him out
