As most of you know I am the manager of a cattery in Staffordshire and recently you may or may not of known that the regulations for catteries and kennels have been drastically improved. All catteries and kennels are now rated out of 5 stars, a lot like the government food and hygiene system! We had our inspection on December 4th and our licence finally came through today and we have been awarded the highest rating of 5 stars. I am so proud of our cattery and our "family" (we're not actually related) who run it! Achieving 5 stars meant meeting criteria such as 1 full time member of staff per 20 cats, having 1 member of staff level 3 trained (we all took our level 3), all pens must be 1.5 times the council minimum size and cats must have risen platforms. There are others quite a few others but thats just a taster! We are the first cattery in our area to achieve 5 stars . I cut out the owners full name and address... even though he lives on site at the cattery and that address is widely published ?! lol! Some random photos off our laptop to give you a feel. I know most people are pro pet sitters on here but with this new star rating system it'll be easier for people to make an informed choice about a cattery. It will take until this time next year for all catteries to be assessed, we just happened to be one of the early birds. Yay!
