I have a 6,000 word report due in on Friday....... I have started it....honest..

I also have a 500 word summary and an updated version of my C.V due in on the 8th October.

I have been putting it off quite well - this forum has helped loads :D

    I think I have a problem!

I know exactly how it is.
My most productive period was when my browser wasn't opening PF, the tablet is too slow and crashing all the time, and thank goodness I have a dumbphone.

There should be a block button so we can stay at least 2 hours without checking the PF.

I always found that the adrenaline rush that came from having only 24 hours left of a two-month assignment completion period, was what I needed to get my @rse in gear.

    Oh, I know the one!!

How on earth I finished uni, I don't know! That last year, especially, I spent more time on here than I did doing assignments

However, never fear! I managed to bag a First which must be due to my time on Cat Chat, dont'cha think?

Haha don't say that - otherwise I will be disspointed when I spend my time on here and don't get a first (never will happen anyway - O well).
This next year will be interesting - to say the least.

This report is pointless - which is why I am procrastinating so much.

    Nutrition

Going into my final year in October (after trying for many years to get a degree - life can be so cruel!)

I just spent a year on placement, well over a year. This week is my last week there. This report is in relation to that, so not only did I have a full time job (getting up early and everything!!!) but I have to do a report on it too :(

Oh, interesting! I have a friend doing Dietetics and Nutrition and she seems to really enjoy it :)

Let's hope this time next year, you'll be a fully qualified Nutritionist! x

You'll be finishing and I might be restarting. Yes, I'm mad!

Ahhhh I remember that all too well!:D

Honestly, I'd have 4 weekends to do 4 assignments:

    Week 1 - "1 assignment / week .... OK .... *sigh* ..... don't understand it .... *give up*"

    Week 2 - "I've got 3 weeks, do 1 this week, 2 next, 1 last week ..... *sigh* ..... don't understand it ...... *give up*"

    Week 3 - "ohhhh boy, I've got 2 weeks, 2 each, that's OK ..... *sigh* ..... don't understand it ...... *give up*"

    Week 4 - "sh*t ... they're all due tomorrow ..... ohhhhh that's what it's about! *done*"

Every time ... without fail

I don't know why but I just couldn't do them without the pressure of a deadline  (maybe as my work is very deadline driven?)

    Get writing!!:D

I am very deadline orientated too.....or just lazy :D

But 6,000 words by this Friday with a full time job where I am training up the girl replacing me will be fun! I have probably succeeded with 500 words today. I am too out of practise. Now its dinner time :D

    ANutr! What a title!!

I'm hoping to go for the Masters- and hopefully, all being well, the PhD :yikes:- I just need to try and get the funding now, or work out how to self-fund.

Once you're looking at Post Grad, it's so difficult and competitive to get funding :(

At the end of it all, I'll hopefully be an educational psychologist :) Very relevant to my present job (which I start on Tuesday! Argh!) and to my interests all the way through my degree.

My main topic of interest is SEN- particularly Autism- it's so incredibly important to provide specialist support and provisions so I'd be in my element if I could be involved with developing and implementing these interventions :smile5:

What are you hoping to specialise in? I know my friend enjoys the community care aspect of her course. She didn't like the hospital placements too much, I don't think.

Yep Anutr then after 2 more years in the field I can apply to be a RNutr (doesn't have the same ring to it does it haha). Then I can play with the big boys :p

When I was younger I wanted to do a masters then a phd - but realised I wasn't studious enough. Plus as you said funding is hard - I wouldn't know where to start!

But gosh, JR you sound so grounded about it all and focused! Well done! When people ask me what I want to do I have no idea. I like the idea of product development - but when you are in my field I know they only take the crème de la crème and that aint me! I volunteered in my local hospital for a year - and was quite glad that I did as I realised I don't wanna go into hospitals so am glad I didn't do dietetics!

I thought you had already started your job!!! Oooo best of luck for it! Is it just for a year, or longer but you are wishing to go into masters after 1 year? Or part time? Could they sponsor you for your masters?

Maybe it's the animal geek in me but I can see 'a neuter' more than I can, 'a nutter'

I'm the opposite to you- I hadn't wanted to do more studying. But then, a lecturer took me aside and practically begged me to as apparently I have a 'brilliant mind' If she had my mind, she'd realise it's anything but brilliant! So now, I'm considering it and on the basis that I may well regret not doing further studies, I probably will go back.

For now, I just have to work in unis and be an honorary student :p It'll be for this year- alongside some hours in the residential houses, I think- and as it's a flexible hours contract, I should be able to continue with it whilst doing an MA.

They maybe would sponsor me, too, but I'll look into it more once I'm more established with the charity. But, being a charity, I can't see that they'll have the funds to sponsor students  I think there's an open day at my uni sometime soon so I'll pop along to that, too, and discuss options further. It's such a minefield!!

I hope you get to where you want to be- you deserve to! Before you know it, you'll be 'Our Neuter' (R Nutr, get it?!) :001_tongue: I'm sure you could get into product development, too; you just need to show that you are driven and have the skills to do so :)

Haha I never saw the neuter - just nutter

I think if a lecture was that keen for you to continue studying then you should! Not many of my lecturers even know my name let alone would talk to me after and say 'Lucy you are brilliant - never leave'. You don't have to do it now - you could always come back to it. But I feel if I could I would want to keep continuing - of you had too much of a gap it may be harder to get back into the rhythm of work and deadlines.

Go along to the open day and find out about funding, I don't think it should be too much of an issue otherwise there wouldn't be that may people being able to go into further education. You never know till you ask :) Why don't you have a meeting with that lecturer and pick their brain about it all?

The thing with me is - I lack confidence and am rubbish at writing things down so my applications are dire. Plus aptitude tests - no idea how to do them!
