    Hi everyone
So over the last week on two occasions my dogs penis has been out and looks very swollen. He sits really still looking uncomfortable with his anus and back leg twitching for around 10 minutes.
Also he nearly always leaves a yellow/green fluid which is quite pungent, wherever he lays down.
I'm not sure if its smegma?
Does anyone know if this is normal or should I be taking him to the vets?
It's started going back in now but I'll upload a picture(sorry) if anyone can tell me if it looks normal?
    Thank you

    Adolescent and entire?

Im going to go with normal.

My first dog used to get his penis out all the time, and it would take a good 10-20 minutes to go back in. Sometimes it needed a little help/lubrication.

My current dog used to have a terrible problem with smegma, similar to what you described. Used to drip constantly, and this continued until he was castrated at 3.

Picture of his penis isnt all that clear. The tip looks almost air filled, but it could simply be the lighting.

    Thanks everyone.
    He's 2 and entire.
The picture is exactly what it looked like. Bulbous on the end.
If it is smegma he gets it really bad. It ends up up the walls and everything from when he shakes.
I am going to get him neutered once the vets are doing them again but for now I'll give them a ring and get him seen to be on the safe side.
    Thanks

Thats exactly what i did; vet for peace of mind.

Ned ended up wearing a belly band in the house as it got on everything. It stunk to high heaven. I had him chemically castrated first, and within 6 weeks it cleared up - i could tell when the implant was wearing off as the dripping started. I will admit it was the deciding factor when i was considering about whether or not to neuter.

    Hi everyone
    A quick update.
The vet said he's fine and probably just getting over excited and that they recommend neutering him.
So I'm going to get that done and hopefully there'll be a bit less goo.
    Thanks for your help guys.
