My 2 year old cat has been lethargic and off his food/water for 3 days. I've made 2 trips to the vet and the first time he had a high temp so they gave him antibiotic injection and metacam. We went back and his temp has dropped back to 'normal' and the vet said he seemed fine. However, I know my cat and I know he isn't fine. So I rang a different vet today and now he is in the hospital and blood tests today have shown kidney and electrolyte abnormalities. They said this could be just due to lack of food/water but will xray tomorrow if no improvement. It may be abdominal bleeding amongst other things. I'm sat here thinking (and googling) worst case scenarios. I don't know what I'm after really, just some positivity. He's just a baby

Thank you, he seemed to get sick suddenly. I just hope I've caught whatever it is quick enough and age is on his side. It's going to be a long night!!

Hope your boy will be OK, sending good vibes. Don't Google, it will just make you worry more than may be necessary.

Positive vibes from me as well and hugs to you. I know you need to be aware of worst case scenarios, but try not to let your mind run away with you, as the vet said it could be use to lack of food and water. I know it's easy for me to say and we all do it, but stop googling.

Hello, the vet rang about 8pm yesterday, Jinx' s x-ray and urine test came back all clear. She said he was still not eating but he was very stressed to be there and thought he would be better at home and watched over the weekend. So I went and picked him up last night and bought him home. He was so happy and straight away he ate some chicken and biscuits and purred!!!! I was over the moon as he has not ate anything since Monday. The vet is pretty sure he has Pancreatitis but I need to wait for the results to come back Tuesday. If it is that then it can flare up again in the future but it's manageable and he can live a normal happy cat life with it. I'm just so glad it was nothing too serious. He's not quite his usual self yet but definitely think he's getting there now :) :) thanks for all the well wishes xx

I'm glad to hear Jinx is home and has perked up and, most importantly, is eating. Lets hope he gets better day by day and result are OK.

Thanks for the update,so good to read that at least the xrays and u/s are all clear.
I assume your vet is waiting for blood results from a PLI test, your vet is "on the ball" many vets don't test soon enough.
Topping up the positive vibes and paws crossed Jinx is soon back to full health.

Yes it's a PLI test. They said they couldn't do that particulat test 'in house', so it's been sent off to the lab. I'm just glad I had the week off work and was home so I noticed something wasn't right early on as the vet said they get cats and dogs come in with it and they are much sicker. Hopefully he'll be back to his normal playful self soon
