If you have a poodle (or poodles!) and can help me out by emailing me some good quality photo's, please leave a reply on this thread.

I have been asked to draw a poodle.
It is a surprise for the owner, the dog passed away a few years ago and all the woman can give me is a printed photograph, from what she said its a full body shot with a background.

So I am going to need some good quality photo's that I can zoom in in, because I have never drawn a poodle before.
Not drawn from a printed photo in a long time either!

She needs it by the 27th aswell, so the more pics the better so I have plenty to work from, no idea about poodle fur directions or anything!

If you are wanting it to end up looking like a particular poodle then you have to know what hers looked like. The photos springerhusky has posted dont actually look like a poodle at all so do be careful. You have to know what clip her dog had, whether its face was clipped, whether the legs were kept clipped down or shaped with longish hair. Also, if it was black, whether it had a lot of white hairs or was one of the lucky ones that stayed totally black. Also what shape its head and muzzle was as some are very long and elegant and some are much shorter and broader. I will try and take a photo of my two so you can see the difference in types apart from whether the dog was professionally clipped and what type of clip it had.
And most important, was it a toy, miniature or standard.

Hey, yep I will be drawing hers from the photo.
But I cannot zoom in on it to see what the fur is like, never having drawn a poodle before I am finding it hard. I need to do some practice before I can actually draw him lol.

Looks like a miniature to me. You rarely get a proper sized toy poodle pet for some reason. They all seem to be oversized!

And what type of hair cut do you say that is?
Ive kinda got the outlines but it looks more like a cocker than a poodle!

I can email you a photo that will show you a coat similar to the dog in the photo, except the legs and head are not the same. If you are still needing it pm me your email addy.

It looks a bit squint just now. Hopefully it won't soon!
