I just thought i'd share a little encounter we had on the walk this morning. One thing ive tried to do with bobbie is socialise him with other dogs as much as possible, and i think its paid off, cos he's got quite a good rep with other dog owners, even those whose dogs are a little bit dog aggresive, he seems to sense when to back off, or when to invite play. Sometimes when we're out, we meet an elderly lady with a dachsund, usually we're the other side of the road, the dachsund always pulls at the lead barking and growling, as though he wants a fight, bobbie just ignores it. Well this morning we bumped into her on a narrow path, her dog started barking as usual and she looked a bit worried, so i thought i'd see what happens if i confronted it, so i knelt down with bobbie behind me, he was still aloof, put out my hand and the dachs slowly came over and sniffed it, i then gave him a little tickle on the chest and then bobbie came round the front and just stood there while the other dog sniffed him. And that was it, sorted, no more barking, and the lady seemed so pleased that someone had actually took some time out to for her and her dog, as it normally went for most things.
