Does anyone know how many tablets a 20kg dog can have? At the moment daisy has one tablet in the morning to set her up for the day but her itching is starting again early evening now, so was wondering if I can give her another late afternoon?

    Phone your vet to check.
Thai only ever had 1 tablet a day (split into 2) and he is 40kg but he didn't take it regularly or for allergies so it may be different.

With anything like this it's best to check with the vet first :)

That fits with what my vet said - 1/4 tablet per 10kg of dog, twice a day.

Thanks I will give them a ring and find out, I expect maybe if I try her with half in the morning and but her half again in the evening it might work better. But will phone the vets and see what they say :)

Definitely check with the vet but my 18kg is on 2 a day.
Her scratching was really bad though, if she was awake she was scratching!

Fairly sure my 7kg was on half morning and night but it made her really sleepy so I cut down to just the night time dose. I am not sure with dogs but with horses you can overdose like mad with no ill effects. I had a horse on 18 a day and the vet said I could give a lot more if I wanted yet some people get a result with far less. I would definitely ask the vet though.

You can't really overdose on Piriton, it can just make them drowsy (obviously don't go feeding a whole pack in one go!) This was from my vet. I know a GSD who was on 6 a day! (3 tabs x 2)
2 tablets a day for a staffy seems fine. I'd not phone the vet if it was my dog but then I've chatted to my vet about Piriton before, so if you're not sure give them a quick ring.

Our Staffy, Rudi, takes Piriton, as well as Apoquel.

She normally has one 4mg tablet twice a day, but in the Spring/early Summer, she has 8mg in the morning and 4mg in the evening.
