My partner collected him about 2pm so been here a few hrs now , his just had his tea and is now lazing in the living room on the rug while the kids watch cartoons , his met the neighbours cats and he seems scarer of them than they r of him lol

Am thinking of taking him for a walk this evening about 7 or is that too soon?? wondering if i should give him longer to get his bearings of being in a house (His been in rescue kennels for over 6mths )

I walked in the living room earlier and he had helped himself to the sofa and the kids were both sitting on the floor lol So had to explain to them and him that doggy sits on the rug and kids have sofa lol

Feels so strange having a dog around the place agian and his a big boy lol Gonna take a while to get used to each other but i think his gonna fit in really well :)

    :) Olivia

Good to hear he's feeling at home already
    We need pictures
I don't see why you shouldn't take him or a short walk - as he's not stressing out - I'm sure he'd enjoy exploring his surroundings

a short walk won't hurt him, if anything it might actually help both of you because in a way by taking him out he's kind of getting to know you by having that quality time with you - plus he'd appreciate the exercise. :)

And yes pics are a must! Sorry its an unwritten rule (and it should be written in the rules - mark and mods) that pics added in new dog/pup threads lol!

Yea he seems to have settled in really well , he sleeeps alot and thankfully the kids are great and leave him alone , my sons autisic and doesnt even seems to of noticed we have a new member of the family he just acts like his always been here lol and my 18mth old daughter has a little stare and says doggy then leaves him alone in till he comes over lol!

Just a quick question?? how much do u feed your dog?? he is a trailhound so about the size of a labrador (He weighs 22kg) the rescue have wrote down to give him 2 handfulls of complete with 1 spoonfull of meat (Tinned) this is twice a day but it doesnt seem very much??!?! i dont wanna ova feed him and i am not saying they are wrong but is this the normal amount??

    thanks every1 xx

It depends on the food - Look at the packet and it'll have a feeding guidline based on his weight.
The kennels probably fed him under the guide lines as he wouldn't of been getting a lot of excersice, also the guidelines can be a little generous I always feed the lower amount with in the weight catagory (hope that makes sense)

Wow he is a lovely boy:thumbup:
Great to hear he is settling in so well. Obviously v appreciative of a good home after so long.
Bit late to comment on the walk but I would say in general, start as you mean to go on - oh yes, and that worked for me? - not!!! Guess who sleeps on my bed

He is a very handsome dog!! Love him!!

As for the food i would go by the packet and see what is reccommended, also he will need more when he starts being more active, and less when he isn't. :)
