Pheasant for cats.

I've been given a pheasant - feathers, head and feet still attached. I'm going to be brave and prepare it, about half for the humans in the household and half for the felines. Or more for them if I make a mess of it. Just wanted to ask, is there any part of it that is not safe/palatable for cats? And should I freeze it first before giving to them to make sure that there's no bacteria, etc.? I'm a novice at this kind of thing, in case you hadn't guessed...

Many thanks for the feedback! I think I'm going to chicken-out and get a braver friend of mine to do the job for me - I feel so guilty just looking at it.

I suspect my furry pals will get most of it in the end. The cats in this house always eat better than the people do, so I expect Christmas will be no different.
