New to this website hoping you all might be able to help me. This last summer I began trainsitioning my cats to a new food from one they had previously been on their entire life. They spent most of their life on IAM’s dry food and I switched them to the blue buffalo indoor health cat food as I was concerned with IAM’s being unhealthy for them. I did the transition very very slowly, within the first week or so I noticed my cat’s stool was particularly smelly, much more so than before, however I had thought this was not unusual with a food change, and kept the transition going in hopes that the smell would clear up, which it did. But over the last few months, one of my cats has on and off been having diarrhea and over the last few weeks, it has had some blood in it on and off, his anus I also noticed appears to be injured, as it was also bleeding a little bit.
Could all of these problems be caused by a food change or is it more likely to be something more serious? I of course want to do what would be best for my cat, and want him to be healthy, he does have a very hard time going to the vet and I would rather not put him through the excess stress if something as simple as a change back to his old food could solve the problem.
Some extra information about my cat: he is overweight ( another issue we are working on)
Still has lots of energy, a big appetite and has shown no other signs of distress or illness
