I've saw a few things but can't remember where.. Maybe look on champdogs forum?

People seem to believe anything a tv programme tells them!

The Ofcom report pretty much validated the programme. The KC made loads of complaints and claimed it was treated unfairly. Ofcom dismissed nearly all the complaints and ruled that the KC hadn't been unfairly treated.

The fact that the KC has implemented so many changes in the wake of PDE is firm evidence that the programme's main premise was well founded. Of course, that doesn't mean that all pedigree dogs are bad but it does mean that breeding within a small, closed gene pool is bad and that the KC has presided over the biggest canine welfare scandal of our generation.

That's one blinkered way of looking at it. The truth, however, is that the changes that were not already in the pipeline were more indicative of a knee-jerk reaction to a witch-hunt by certain sections of the media who preferrred the ratings provided by sensationalism rather than reporting the truth.

Thankfully, except for the odd few people who believe without question everything the sensationalist-seeking sections of the media spoon-feeds them, most people now realise this and, instead of attacking an organisation that is doing much to promote the health of ALL dogs (not just pedigrees), are expending their energies on fighting real causes in the dog world.

    Lol.

Does "a witch-hunt by certain sections of the media" include the KC's own commisioned report? Bateson (and Rooney et al) also concured with PDE about the problems the programme highlighted. 'Tis not I with the blinkered view.

But I am not surprised at the continuing levels of denial and obfuscation. There is still no real will to change at the heart of the old school KC and breed clubs. As Bateson himself ruefully observed we will probably have to wait for a new generation of breeders to come forth before we see any real and meaningful improvements.
