Sad to say that we lost our 13 year old cat Alfie on Thursday night after a long battle with CRF and latterly fluid retention.

He'd been asleep on my lap for the majority of the evening and then collapsed when we put him on the floor. He made his way to their basket, only to collapse again and he passed away a few minutes later with my wife comforting him. We take slight comfort from the fact that he died at home and wasn't put down, but the cries he made will live with me for some time but he's at peace now.

It's all gone really fast - he passed away on Thursday, we then took him to the Pet Crematorium on Friday and he's (to our knowledge) been cremated over the weekend for us to collect on Wednesday - that will be a tough day but he'll be back with us then. With a 6 month old sone we couldn't delay proceedings either. Don't know if you can publish company names on here, but we used "Dignity Per Crematorium" in Hartney Witney - very compassionate and would recommend them to anyone.

He'll be greatly missed by us and also his sole mate Denzil, his 12 year old surviving cat who's doing ok, but does look a little lost. He spent a lot of time with Alfie on Thursday and saw him collapse so we think he knows he's gone in his own way.

God bless you Alfie from Mum and Dad, Thomas, Denzil, Gracie and Griffin xx
