Oscar went in for his dental today and didn't come out again :(

Apparently the operation was fine but his heart stopped when in recovery and they couldn't get it going again. He was perfectly healthy. We rescued him as a stray and he has been doing so well, in just three weeks he has come a long way.

We've only had him three weeks but both me and OH are in bits. We've ordered a pizza for tea, we can't go in the kitchen with all his things in there. Aber keeps wandering around the house looking for him... I wish I could explain it to him.

Please send your love to Oscar, he's in a better world now.

That's so unfortunate; i'm really sorry for your loss - atleast what little time he spent with you was good time for him. Rest in peace now Oscar.

Thinking of you and OH. xx

Awww i'm so sorry. Poor Oscar :(

    R.I.P Oscar, run free.

I hope you can take one small comfort in that he would not have been in pain. I really feel for you and hope you and your OH feel better soon.

I'm so sorry for your loss. That's awful. Poor oscar. He will be having fun at Rainbow Bridge now! I really feel for you as losing Ted and Dusty in June still feels so raw and poor Aber. Thinking of you all.

That is just so heartbreaking :(

How old was Oscar? We're looking at the prospect of our 13yr old cat having some dental work and now I'm wondering if it's worth it.

I'm so sorry for your loss. 3 weeks may not be a long time but it only takes them a very short time to become big parts of our lives.

We don't know how old exactly because he was a stray before we rescued him, the shelter said he was 7-8 but we think he was a little bit younger.

I have spoken to the surgery today and they said he was perfectly healthy, the operation went well but he just couldn't cope with coming off the anaesthetic, they would not have operated if they had any thought there was something wrong with him. My other cat is 10 tomorrow, he had his dental done a week before we picked him up in April, it's a standard operation. I guess Oscar was just unlucky :(

As we only had him for three weeks and it was the rescue centre that did his dental they have told us if we want to get another cat from them in the future then we will not have to pay the deposit which is a really nice gesture.

Thankyou everyone for your kind words. I'm going to miss him so much, i've never met a cat like him, he was just like me, loopy and cuddly.

His little stripey tail will be swishing around every corner I see for a long time.
