Just looking to find out how to train my dog to do the following:

    1) Not pull on the lead when walking.

    2) When walking past other people how can I get Monty to walk straight past them and not to go upto them and want to jump?

    Thanks.

A decent training class will show you how to deal with these scenarios. How old is Monty? See if you can get him enrolled, you won't regret it, it's good for all kinds of skills :)

Aww bless, your monty is so little and cute lol. I've got a Monty too but he's a massive lump of a dog 90 lbs and he's only 8 months old :p

He used to be the same on walks though, he'd pull us all along the beach and try to jump up on every person that passed :blushing:
We changed his collar to a half choke, placed it right to the top of his neck and held the lead at a shorter length.
When he started to pull, we'd pull the lead up hard enough to stop him, this took a few goes but he got the message. Same again when he started pulling towards people, a quick tug of the lead to pull his head in the opposite direction, just until he passed. Always keep going, don't stop to try and calm him down, it'll just make it harder.

    He'll get there ;)

btw, this was our Monty 3 months ago... he's a bit bigger now :)

Hi my 21 week old lab pulls on the lead and see that someone mentioned a half choke collar..are these safe for a dog ...they wont damage their growing necks will it ? ( we dont have any puppy classes )
