Do you have security on your computer to run a scan and delete the virus :confused1: You may unfortunately have to take it to an IT person :(

Sounds like you have a trojan.

Highly recommend you try downloading Malwarebytes it is the best fee scanner I have come across. People using it for the first time can find hundreds of naughty things on their computers, even those with (what they thought was) a good virus protection.

Don't worry...this is not a windows problem or even a virus.

Windows doesn't give reports like that.

Is it a different computer, or are you using it to access the internet right now?

I gotta leave for work soon. I'll leave Mum a note explaining what's happened.
Hopefully she and Dad can get it sorted somehow

    Oh my poor reports :(:(

I'm about to make a cuppa.

Tell me...on the "infected machine" are you using Windows XP, Vista or 7?

Were you able to go on the internet last night?

When you say you log on to your homepage and the message pops up, where does the message appear? Are there any other messages with it? Also, what do you mean by your "homepage" - Google? MSN?

What errors do you actually get if you try to open MS Word?

Okey Dokey. Not a virus as such.

What you need to do is restart the PC in safe mode. To do that, simply restart the machine and press F8 while it's booting up.

    Choose "safe mode with networking".

It will start up fine, although the desktop background might be grey or black.

Go onto Google and search for a program called "SpyBot Search and Destroy".

Download it. Install it. Start it up. Let it do it's thing. Delete everything it finds.

Your PC should now be fine to restart.

    Good luck!

No it said 'homepage' first, then webpage .. but i think she probably got a bit confused with that, since it's obviously not the case.

Glad Classix had found an easy fix for OP.
